Premiership is highest football league in Scotland and contains 12 teams. Season is divided in two phases. First one each club plays 3 times against every other member of Premiership, one time as host and two times as guest for a total of 33 matches. The clubs are ranked in table according to points they won, goal difference and goals scored for the season. When each club plays 33 matches ends first phase of the season. In the second phase each club carry over points won during first phase, clubs are divided in two groups according to end-season table. Top 6 teams, plays one match against each other in a champion group to determine who is the champion of Scotland. The champion is also qualified for UEFA Champion League qualification phase. 2nd and 3rd teams are qualified for UEFA Europa League. In second group named Relegation group last 6 teams from end-season ranking are playing also one match against every other club from group to determine which team will be demoted to lower division Scottish Championship. Last club is directly demoted and replaced with 1st team in Championship. Second-last together with clubs finished from 2nd to 4th place in Championship plays relegation play-offs to determine which club will play in Premiership.
