This is the second-highest football league in the Scotland and in it participate 10 clubs. Each team plays 4 matches in the season against every other team from Championship league, two as host and two as guest for a total of 36 matches per season. Clubs are ranked in table according points they won, goal difference and goals scored during the season. At the end of the season first team in the end-season table is directly promoted to Scottish Premiership. Clubs ranked from 2nd to 4th place are playing in a group with 11th team from Premiership for a play-off rounds to determine which club will play in Premiership. Last in the end season ranking is automatically demoted to lower League One, and the half-last plays in relegation group with 3 teams from League One to determine which of these four teams will take last spot in Championship.
