This is highest football division in Mexico and is formed by 18 clubs. The football season is split in 2 championships named Apertura – first oen and Clasura. Clubs are ranked in table according to points they won during the season. At the end of the season top 4 clubs are qualified for CONCACAF Champions League. The club with average worst points for last three years is relegated to lower division named Liga Ascenso and the spot in Liga MX is taken by the champion of Liga Ascenso.
