Football in Belarus
For his short history, because of the gaining independence during 1991 year, Belarusian football is one of the most popular sports in the country. In the same 1991 year are created Football Federation of Belarus and the National team. Belarus is registered in FIFA and UEFA, but never have been qualified for any of the competitions organized by FIFA and UEFA.
During the season, there is two national football competitions, organized by Belarus Football Federation, named:
- Belarusian Cup
- Belarusian Super Cup
In Belarusian Cup take part all teams from Premier League, First League and Second League. The club that wins the Belarusian Cup qualifies for UEFA Europa League.
Belarusian Super Cup is a single match event between winners of Belarusian Cup and Belarusian Premier League.
Football League in Belarus is formed by three divisions – Belarusian Premier League (Visshaya Liga) built by 16 best clubs in the country, Belarusian First League contains 15 clubs and Belarusian Second League also with 15 clubs.
