This is the second-highest football division in Netherland built by 20 clubs. Each club in this divison plays 38 matches per season. One as host and one as guest against every other team in Eerste Divisie. Clubs are ranked in table according to points they won. The winner of Eerste Divisie is automatically promoted to highest football division in the country named Eredivisie. Clubs ranked from 2nd to 9th together with clubs ranked on 16th and 17th place in Eredivisie are playing play-off rounds to determine two more teams which will play in Eredivisie for the next season.
