This is the second-highest football division in France, and it`s the second one organized and governed by French Football Federation. Ligue 2 is launched in 1933. The Ligue 2 contents twenty clubs. Each club plays 38 mathches during the season, 1 “home” and 1 “away” against every other team in the division. The winner is determined at the end of the season according to points won, goal differences and goal scored. First two teams in season ranking are promoted to higher Ligue 1 and the third one is playing play-off round with the team finished in 18th place from Ligue 1 to determine which one will takes last spor in Ligue 1. Last three clubs in the end-season ranking are demoted to lower division named National and their places are taken by top three clubs in the National ranking.
